Plan Check Linkin Park Meal

This past Tuesday JP and I headed to Plan Check over on Fairfax to grab some food and hunt for donuts. #RIPICDC. If you wanna hear us talk about this and other nonsense click here. A few days before that she had sent me a link showing this new meal that Linkin Park had at Plan Check that had five things for $39. I looked at it and was like “meh.” I like Linkin Park and have about three or four of their albums but wasn't sure about paying that much for what looked like a tiny dish. Well, I was very wrong. Its a lot of food and well worth it. Plus you get a damned t-shirt! Thankfully JP is not a fan of the band so she let me have the shirt.

You get a mandarin and black cheery cream soda which tastes good. There are also kimchi dusted fries which were very good and I wish they would just keep it on the menu and not for a limited time. There is a ahi tuna tostada which I tried one tiny piece of so I cant say how good it was or not. I'm not a fish expert. I tend to eat it fried with hot sauce. There was the Korean barbecue pork belly grilled cheese which was so good! It was way bigger than I expected as well. JP mentioned that while it had a lot of sauce and business going on it was not soggy at all. And for dessert there is a OML cruller. It has pineapple, yuzu air (whatever that is), coconut glaze, and a chocolate disc with a pineapple. JP was able to cut this thing with a spoon. It was super light and a new taste. Most of these are definitely worth getting a la carte.

Food Fair By Diego

The other day when hanging out with Cam she asked what I wanted to grab for lunch. As we walked downstairs I told her that I would know by the time we got to her car. I decided on Food Fair By Diego which we had been to once before. This place is really good though there isn't much parking since there are like three other places in that small lot. We pulled in and got a spot right out front and as we waited for our food to arrive I stared at the paintings of big naked women and wondered why they named the place this. It is a bad name. Great food. But that name doesn't stick. I think I called it Food Land or Food Stand. So I ordered and sat down drinking some bomb ass lemonade while Cam got a tea/lemonade mix. It is real lemonade by the way.

I got a cheeseburger and fries while I think Cam got a turkey burger with a side of beets with almonds. We both really enjoyed our burgers. The fries were just as good as they were the last time we were there. Her beets, I didn't try. I will not even attempt to try those things. She thought they were okay. Not great, but okay. I told her that it looked like candy or that it appeared like it would be sweet. She said it kinda was. If you are ever in that area and don't want to deal with all the nonsense that comes with trying to eat at the Grove give it a try. Just call beforehand because they have very weird hours. We got there after 2pm and they closed at 3pm.

Mendocino Farms Is Great

Mendocino Farms is a place over here that is fucking amazing. I would post a picture of their food but I have taken some pretty bad ones that don’t represent the food they serve very well. The first time I went was to the one on 3rd and Fairfax next to that new Trader Joe’s across from The Grove with Miss Q. I got an awesome sandwich that I cant recall but it was some sort of club. The next time I went was with Cam where I tried the blue cow chicken sandwich which was so damned good and tasted just as good the next day. I was like “How is this possible?!”

The third time I went was during a shopping spree with Cam and we tried the one on Santa Monica and La Brea in that Target shopping center aka Parking Here Hurts Your Soul. I got the chicken salad sandwich which looked great on paper and Cam got the same. We tried it and both of our eyes lit up. This was better the next day. The very next day, even as my half sandwich sat at home in my fridge, I went to the one on 3rd with my tattoo artist and tried the steak BLT which blew my fucking mind. Other than great sandwiches this place has lemonades, chips, and a ton of side dishes like potato salads that rule and regular salads. This is a spot I’ll be going to at least every two weeks because the staff is the best out of any restaurant I have been to in L.A and the food is consistently good. I just hope they don’t start popping up everywhere like The Counter because we have seen how shitty their service is now.

Andre's Is Good

I went to Andre’s a few days ago with South Paw over on Fairfax & 3rd. This place has stayed the same ever since I was in high school. I mean in the way it looks and the prices. Hell, even the same employees which is really weird. I got a couple slices of pizza, garlic bread, a mango Snapple, and this new shrimp pasta thing they had. I saw some lady get some and was like “That needs to be in my mouth!” It was all very good and you cant beat the price of this place. Andre’s has been good for over a decade. How many other places can you say that about?

Lola's On Fairfax

Last night I went to this place called Lola’s on Fairfax and Santa Monica. it’s a martini bar. Or maybe its not. Either way they make good martinis. I went there with Heidi, Michelle, and two of Heidi’s friends. It was a cool ass spot. And deceptively large and loud. From the outside it looks small. They were playing a bunch of old school rap songs that we were laughing at. Good times.

Most places depending on where you go bring you things like tortilla chips and salsa, bread and oil or whatever. This place brings fancy chips and some vegetable things I didn’t even try and touch. The chips weren’t crunchy and that was strange but the more I ate the better they tasted. Michelle said they tasted like they were made in truffle oil. I’ll take her word for it.

I had a martini whose name I cant recall. It was very effective. And when I say effective I mean it got me drunk really fast. Like, really fast!

Oh, the macaroni! Heidi was raving about this stuff and she didn’t lie when she said it was the best macaroni ever! It was enough for two people so I had leftovers. This place is super pricey though and not somewhere I would go to often even though it tasted great. Very trendy type place but no one was an asshole and the waitress was nice. But watch out for the gratuity charge.

Still Loving The Counter

A photo of the burger I had at The Counter on Sunset & Fairfax when I hung out with my cool ass cousin. I don’t know how I managed to forget to post this picture seeing as how I have a damn food blog. This one had cheddar cheese, bacon, thick grilled onions, with a side of guacamole and garlic sauce. Damn, I love The Counter.
