Blue Note Los Angeles

So for years my lady has missed seeing Robert Glasper perform. So when checking his tours and such I saw he was playing at a place called Blue Note. We had never been here or heard of it but I told her that we were going no matter what. So we arrive and are ushered to our seats...next to strangers. This was not what either of us expected especially for how much it cost just for a table and there is already a 2O dollar minimum. So as soon as we enter there is over 2OO bucks gone. If you have to share a table normally set for two people and cram four people that needs to be said when purchasing a table. The tickets only said first come first served.

We sit down next to an older couple and I can see that my lady is uncomfortable. Our knees are in the aisle and I can't move without physically touching this stranger. More people arrive and the place is getting warmer and more crammed. Other reviews we checked have mentioned this but it can't be overstated.

This is tighter than in a theater. Our food arrives. My lady got some olives that she thought were just okay. I got a steak with asparagus that was good but very small in portion and not worth what I paid. I told her that I could have eaten the same amount twice. Smoked drink was strong and fine. One at Eddie V's was better. Her salmon was okay to her but needed seasoning. We got water which was mistakenly taken by our neighbor. They got another for us. With a table so small I get it. Almost forgot to mention the olive oil cake. It was fine but we have had far better. It had a weird ice cream that was feathered.

The tables are in a row with a tight aisle in-between where servers had to walk sideways balancing food and drinks. While there a man in a booth got a drink spilled on him. My lady got water spilled on her. As we were leaving someone dropped a whole dish. If a fire ever broke out here it would look like he Black Spot in Welcome To Derry. Only the security guard would make it out alive.

My lady went to the gender neutral bathroom and I held it in. She and others have said there are no toilet seat covers. I am not gonna get into how the performance was not all that good with a bad rapper coming out on stage made us leave before the show was even finished. We will never go back to this place.

Location: Not a bad spot because we found parking across the street at a meter. Place looks nice as long as you don't look at the tight tables. They have booths that face the stage but they are reserved for guests of performers. I had to turn sideways to see the stage and was blocked by the lady sitting at our table. Like I said this place is a disaster waiting to happen.

Price: A lot for a custodian. I have paid more for food and shows but have had far more fun. The fact that I was down over 2OO before stepping through the door is nuts for a show where the artist vanished for more than ten minutes at a time and only played one song for a couple of minutes that my lady said sounds like his normal likable music.

Service: I can't complain about the waitress we had. Crazy they try to make everyone pay towards the end of the show while music still playing. Food came fast and she was attentive.
