Another day with JP another Fat Tour.
This one was not planned out completely. We had a donut spot in mind
and that was about it. The first place we headed to was Mad Men
Burger over on Venice. Online it has it listed as Mad Men Deli as
well. And on another it says its closed. They really need to get that
straightened out because we could have easily just not gone expecting
it to no longer exist. Parking is not good. We managed to find a spot
on the street nearby. They have their own parking for customers but
it could hold a car and a half. Inside is very nice and clean. They
play cool ass much though it may be a little too loud. But whatever.
I like rap. JP and I got a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink for $8
and some change. I also got chicken strip to go which I had today
that were good. The burgers and everything on it were fresh as hell.
Its not a huge meal but its enough to get you satisfied. We both said
that we wouldn't break our necks to go here again but if we were in
the area we'd check it out again.
Next we wanted coffee so we went to
Hermano's over on San Vicente. Never been here before. Cool little
spot that, like the place above, is on a neighborhood street which is
kinda weird. You just step outside and can see into folks homes. We
both got latte's (I got ice she got hot). They were super effective.
Would go here again if I were nearby.
Next we went to California Donuts.
Probably wouldn't go back because its near Koreatown and its fucking
insane walking or driving there. It was JP's first time in that area
and she got a good taste of the chaos. The parking is weird and they
have one person working there. We got a lot of different donuts. The
best was the crumb one and the plain glazed. The purple one with
Cinnamon Toast Crunch was a terrible joke. It was like someone put
cough syrup and the most stale CTC they could find. Fucking gross!
The croissant with the whipping tasted like there was a quinceaƱera in my mouth and everyone threw up. The Reese's one was good but got
stuck to the roof of my mouth. The bacon maple was good. Haven't
tried the thin mint one but the Samoa was good.
The last place we went to was Marix. We
love this place. I forced myself to get tacos this time instead of a
burger like I normally do. JP got the Cubano dish. We almost didn't
go inside because it looked closed because the front door was.
Thankfully they weren't because I was about to have a damned fit.
Marix is always good and this was no different. It was a nice way to
end out Fat Tour.
