Eating At Thai Table Whittier

A few weeks ago Cam and I went to Whittier to hunt down some plants. It was cool. Then we wondered what was even out there to eat. We spotted this place called Thai Table and decided to see what it was about. Our standards are pretty damn high when it comes to Thai food after being to places like King & I (still miss that spot) and Toi up on Sunset. I was pleasantly surprised with how good this food was. We got the chicken potstickers for an appetizer which were nice and hot. She got an eggplant noodle for a meal which was good and I got chicken noodles and we split the chicken larb. Chicken larb always tastes better than pork larb. Go figure. The Thai tea was good, just mixed before it got to us.

Location: Located on the corner of a giant shopping center. Plenty of parking.

Service: Very nice staff. Just hard to get their attention for things like more napkins. They walk around with their eyes down.

Price: Very good price. Had enough food to leave having to walk it off and more for dinner the next evening.

Way Too Late Food Posts

Oh my god. I have not written on here since last August and have not gone to a ton of places but have been a lazy ass and not updated this blog. This blog is pretty much for myself anyway. None of y'all reading this. I am gonna write some quick things about the places unless I feel like saying something extra. So...yeah. Here.

Cam and I decided to try chicken sandwiches from different places. We tried out Church's and Jack In The Box. JITB was the best one which is weird considering you would think Church's would be awesome considering they are a damn chicken place.

The other two places were Burger King which was fine and had nice sauce. By far the worst one was McDonald's. I was only able to take a single bite of of that and just stopped. Cam thought it was gross too.

BJ's Burgers (Late Ass Blog) For My Best Friends Birthday

Out of all the blogs I write this is the only one where I will let things pile up so much it just becomes overwhelming and I just sit here with photos from my food adventures and eventually sit down and write one of these and try my best to remember when I went to these places.

Last year it was rough to convince me to go out and eat some place. Spots were opening and closing and then being super packed and I wasn't trying to get sick. But last May while hanging out with my best friend around her birthday we were out in Arcadia or somewhere and went to BJ's because that place is always good.

I got a bacon burger with fries while Cam got a chicken salad I believe. See? This is what happens when I take too long. Like, this was in May! The food was great and the waitress was the bomb. She refilled my lemonade about four times even though the place was busy. We ate outside and I felt good about not being around all them crowds of people at other tables. The only other BJ's I've been to is the one at Fox Hills I think and that place is good too. But the service at this one was the best.

Dog Haus (and Vito's) With My Best Friend

I went to Dog Haus with Cam! I haven't been able to go out and eat that much as you can tell by how inactive this site was last year because the world shut down and I tend to eat out with folks. Today went went to Dog Haus in Pasadena and I inhaled my hot dog in the car with fries and a vanilla milkshake. Cam got the corndog and tots with a root beer float while I got the Mr. Miyagi. I think watching Cobra Kai has affected me too much. The Mr. Miyaga contains “a deep-fried all beef dog, caramelized onions, mayo, teriyaki sauce, tempura crumbles & wasabi furikake; on grilled King's Hawaiian rolls.” Come on, now! It was so good I forgot I had fries. If anything I wanted wasabi that was stronger because I couldn't taste it. Not complaining though because this thing was incredible.

In December I think Cam and I went to Vito's on La Cienega. This kind of became our spot to either have delivered or picked up. This time we actually ate outside at what looks to be their soon to be new location in the same lot but much bigger. They have outside seating and we saw a bigger area that was empty and asked if we could sit there and could so we did. I always get pepperoni there and Cam gets fancier things.

Getting Stuffed At Bludso's

Cam and I went to Bludso's over on La Brea a few days ago. I wasn't even thinking about barbecue until she mentioned it. When sat outside and actually found parking right out front which was a miracle. I wanted to order something different since I always get hot links and call it a day. This time I ordered fries and a sandwich that had hot links and beef brisket on it. Cam got chicken, pickles, corn bread, and macaroni and cheese.

You may also see some pork ribs sitting there? Yeah. Those came on accident. I'm no criminal so I told them as soon as they brought I pointed it out and they said it was fine and we were not charged for them. Cam don't eat pork like that so I ended up taking them home for dinner. The fries were really good as well as the sandwich which damn near crippled me it was so filling. I wanted to try some of the sides but I was so full from my meal. This was so damn good.

Bunch of Burgers And Fat Tour

I have had a lot of burgers over the past few weeks. Lets start off with BJ's with Cam. We headed here because they are consistently good. I got a bacon burger while Cam got the pizza. It didn't really look like a pizza but she liked it. The burgers and fries here are really good. Nothing to scream about but good. Plus those fries stay hot until you say you are ready to go home.

Tart Breakfast

Yesterday Cam and I headed to Tart for breakfast. We had not been in a hot minute. I fought myself and did not get the chicken and waffles and got the American Breakfast instead. Bacon, eggs, potatoes, and toast. I also got hot cocoa to drink. It was a cool morning and we were outside at first and ended up taking our chilly asses indoors.

Cam got the Chilaquiles. It has tortilla chips, salsa Colorado, scrambled eggs, lime cream, queso fresco and cilantro. She offered me one bite and I took it but would not take another because it was so damned good I know I would have started eating all her food. She got a latte to go with it. This place is really good and it is never super packed so its nice to sit and talk and listen to good music.

Late Ass Food Blog

I am terrible and have not been posting food blogs. Its not that I haven't been eating with folks. I just have not taken pictures every time and then I had to get a new camera. Oh, so much nonsense. A few months ago when JP visited we went to Marix and I forced myself to not get a hamburger. It was so damned good as it usually is. That is what I like about places I enjoy. Consistency. This place is consistent and I have never had a bad meal here. I also got to sit with JP and laugh like lunatics as usual.

Yesterday Cam came by and said the magic words. “I got you donuts.” Well come on eeeeen! After heading to the thrift store and getting some books we headed to my place and after looking at all my plants (click here to see 'em!). She went to SK's Donuts and got an Oreo one, bacon, and pumpkin spice. We tried the pumpkin spice one first and it was so damned good. Not as sweet as I imagined it would be and the cream melted in my mouth. The Oreo one was perfect. Again, I thought Cam wouldn't like it because she is not a fan of super sweet things but both of us really like it. She didn't touch the bacon one but I touched it so hard half an hour after she left. It was so damned good. The last time I tried to go to this place it was closed for renovation so I am glad they weren't lying the way Continental Kitchen did over here.

I forgot one! Before seeing Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages Cam and I went to Toi on Sunset and had some delicious Thai. When I want Thai food I always forget that this place exists until she mentions it.

Back At BJ's

I thought I had written about the first time Cam and I went to BJ's but it turns out I did not. This time we were in Burbank and could not quite figure out what to eat. I did not want pizza. Cam did not want Dog Haus again. She checked if there was a BJ's nearby and there was one eight minutes from where we were so we headed there. It was raining a tiny bit but inside the place was packed. I told her the plan B. and C. ideas if shit was too wild here but she asked if we could sit at the bar area. Turns out that is a great idea because we sat in a nice booth area. We got a beer each and I ordered the BJ's Burger with bacon and cheese with fries. Cam mentioned she always gets pizza at this place and I was puzzled since she got a turkey dip when I was with her. She remembered this and how good it was so she ordered that.

We were both hungry as all get out so when the food came I inhaled mine. The burger was really good and I pointed out that they used that good bacon. The kind you don't buy because it is thick cut and only comes with like six in a pack. She enjoyed her sandwich and we both mentioned how great the fries were. They were seriously perfectly seasoned and cooked fries. Did not need to ad ketchup or anything to them. Just shoveled them into my mouth. I wish this place was closer to me because it is not crazy expensive and they have a huge menu that I have not even begun to put a dent in.

Impossible Counter Burger

Last week I went to The Counter with Cam on Sunset. I like this location. Yeah, our waiter was a little weird and they are straight up letting their plants outside die but we still like it there. After some discussion on previous occasions Cam decided to get the Impossible Burger there. I was too hungry to experiment so I stuck with the classic. She liked the Impossible Burger but said that next time she gets it she will just get that patty but with regular toppings. I saw that she had like an entire avocado on hers and that seems excessive to me. I mean, I like the things but I never want an entire one on my burger. My classic burger was good and is just the right amount to not cripple me with fullness. She also got a milkshake and we had to wait a few minutes to get a damned straw because if we get rid of all the straws our planet will be better, right?! Maybe in a few more visits I will get the fancy new burger.

Third Time In The Dog Haus

After getting amazing plants in Burbank Camille and I ended up going to Dog Haus. This is the third time I have been and each time it has been at a different location. This time I decided to get something different. I stared at the menu and got a burger. Yes. At a hot dog/sausage based place I got a burger. I am that person that goes to another country to eat McDonald's. The burger was really good. Like, surprisingly good. I don't know what I was expecting. Maybe for it to be a hot dog smashed into the shape of a patty. It was served on four connected Hawaiian rolls, fresh onions, lettuce, tomato, and a slightly spicy sauce. Very good. The fries tasted like Rally Burger fries but with less crunch. Still good. Camille got the chicken sandwich which looked really good. The only problem, which is a big problem that seems to haunt the chicken sandwich world, is the sogginess caused by the sauces used. A good chicken sandwich does not need a lot of...stuff. Look at Chick Fil A. They add a pickle the send you on your way. It seeped into her bread, also Hawaiian, and made it look as if the dough was not baked properly. She liked her tots though. I will for sure head back here whenever I get the chance. But if I get the chicken sandwich I will ask them to either put the toppings on the side or all of them on top of the chicken.

Numero Uno After A Long Time

Cam and I went to Numero Uno last week and this place is still really good. She got a veggie pizza while I got the lemon chicken pasta. Tastes just as good as I remembered. After checking my posts it looks like it has been six years since I last had it and seven since I went with Cam. I did not realize that it had even been such a long time. Understandable since she no longer lives over that way and I am rarely in that area. We also got those little bread balls that are so good. The service was really good and the lady was handling multiple tables. It was empty when we first got there but slowly began to fill up. That area is full of weird ass people wandering around and the parking is a nightmare the later in the day you go. I'd like to go here again in the next few months.

Two Weeks Lots To Eat

I have eaten so much food over the last couple of weeks. I was gonna do each of these as an individual blog but then I'd have to do like eight of them and between all the other random nonsense I fill my day with that was something I did not wanna do. The first place on the menu was Mel's over on Hollywood with Cam. We headed here during the AFI Fest. She got the turkey burger with fries while I got the Mel's Burger with cheese. She also got a shake that was good. I like this place because they are consistent with it. Except for that fried chicken sandwich that one time. That should never be on their menu. Oh. Her shake was vanilla and chocolate but tasted mostly like chocolate. They also thought we didn't pay and a waiter chased me to the corner. Made me regret leaving a tip.

Inti One Saturday Vito's The Next

Last weekend I went to Inti on Melrose with my cousin Mala. She had never been before and I've been there maybe three times before. I really like this place. The shrimp fried rice tastes like fried rice tasted when I was little. The lomo saltado consists of “strips of beef sauteed with onions, tomatoes, and french fries served with steamed white rice, strips of beef sauteed with onions.” It is my favorite dish.

We also got plantains which I almost forgot and Ceviche De Camarones that had “shrimp cooked in lemon juice, with onions and spices. served with boiled potatoes.” And of course I got the Inca cola because it tastes like magic. I look forward to going here again and maybe trying something new. Who am I kidding? I'm gonna get the lomo saltado again.

Last night Cam and I went to Vito's over on La Cienega after she was done adulting. She had mentioned wanting pizza earlier in the day so when she asked if I wanted something to eat I brought up this pizza and we went there. I have been a few times before and each I wonder why I go to other places to get a slice of pizza. It is in a kind of weird spot on La Cienega in a shopping center surrounded by other places. They have outside seating and indoor and play really good music. We grabbed a beer and two slices each and enjoyed ourselves. I love this place.

At Inti & The Counter

A few weeks ago I went to Inti twice within a week. I went with JP who had not been since she first took me there and then with Cam since it had been a minute since she'd gone. I swear, this place is consistently good. I have to get the same stuff each time but switch it up a tiny bit. Like when I went with Cam I did not get the ceviche even though I wanted it. I was glad though because I got super full halfway through my meal. With JP she ordered the plantains which were good.

Breakfast At Tart

For a couple of weeks Cam and I have wanted breakfast. Good breakfast. Not IHOP. Last week we ended up getting Thai food and I had chicken and waffles and did the same thing again but this time at Tart over on Fairfax. After finding parking right out front which is a miracle we headed inside...round the back. It was weird. We each got a form of coffee and then our meals arrived. I got this really good chicken and waffle dish that has candied pecans, Tabasco butter, and bourbon maple syrup. The chicken was some of the best I have ever tasted and I would love to try it in a dinner or lunch. The skin was crispy and flavored perfectly and the chicken itself was super juicy. The waffle was also good. I did not finish. I took the rest home. Cam got a big ass sandwich and she had the Danish bacon removed (travesty!) and got chicken sausage on the side. The sandwich had lettuce, heirloom tomato, avocado, onion confit, fried eggs, and mustard aioli on griddled country bread. I did not try it but she loved it. I'll be heading back here again for sure.

Otus And Red Lobster

Earlier this week Cam and I went to Otus which is that Thai spot over on La Brea and Fountain aka the second most dangerous intersection after La Brea and Santa Monica. We wanted some kind of breakfast and discovered that they had some here. Cam got this rice and chicken soup that smelled good and I got the chicken with Belgium waffles. The chicken was really good. Like, it was made perfectly. The waffles were soft which I liked because I am not a fan of crispy waffles. Cam also got this fancy looking ass coffee that dripped into the cup and cream that was on the table. For sure I will be getting this dish again. Oh, and dipping a drumstick into syrup? Ooh...

The other day we went to Red Lobster. I had not been to this place in any form in years. We were near LAX and Cam suggested we go there and there is no way in hell I'm gonna turn down the chance for biscuits. She got a salad, tilapia fish, and shrimp. I tried the fish and it was good. I got the shrimp linguini and fried popcorn shrimp and a mango lemonade that was bomb. Of course we got the biscuits which were good as always. I had so much pasta that I had enough to eat another meal the next day. Still mad that we didn't get a second serving of them buttery ass biscuits...

My Birthday Food Tour

Last weekend I celebrated my birthday weekend with the coming together of people I love and food. It started on Saturday hanging with JP and heading to Plan Check. We parked in the pay lot because fuck looking for parking on Fairfax during the middle of the day on a Saturday. We shared the food because we family. She got the chicken and waffles which were as good as always and I got the Chef's burger without the yolky ass egg. We split the pastrami gravy fries which were really good but had a sprinkle of pastrami at the bottom. JP also made me a cake which I finished today. She got a slice but the rest was all mine! Deal with it.

On Sunday Cam and I headed to Inti which is the amazing Peruvian spot on Melrose. We shared the Ceviche De Camarones that has shrimp in lemon juice with onions. There are also potatoes (sweet and regular) as well as roasted and boiled kernels. The boiled ones are new. This stuff is so damn good. Cam got the Pescado Saltado fish strips with french fries, sauteed onions, and tomatoes and I had the pasta with chicken, onions, and tomatoes. It was so good. Then on Monday I went with SR to Inti once again and we got the civiche. She loved it and had never been here before. She also got the Arroz Chaufa De Camarones which was really good shrimp fried rice with scrambled eggs and green onions. It tasted like how shrimp fried rice tasted in the 80's. I got the Lomo Saltado that is strips of beef sauteed with onions, tomatoes, french fries on steamed white rice and strips of beef sauteed with onions. Each meal I had was enough for three meals. I had so much fun and had so much good food with cool ass people making it one of my favorite birthdays.

Late Food Posts

I have been slacking like crazy on this blog. I have been eating at different places and just not posting images of it here. I'm terrible. Late last year I went to On The Thirty in Sherman Oaks and Jennie and I got this brunch meal that included mimosas that were might powerful and fried chicken sandwiches with delicious fries. Out of all the chicken sandwiches I've had this is the second best after the ones that are no longer made at Tom Bergin's. Yeah, they no longer make them there. This one was made perfectly and did not fall apart when picked up. Another place I went to for the first time was this place called Delicious Pizza over on Sunset. Cam and I went there in December after a movie and the food was super good. We split the pizza in half with her side being arugula and mine being pepperoni and mushroom. The price was a bit high but it was very good. Nice vibe inside, but I just wish that they would play the songs the whole way through and not bounce around like an iPod on shuffle. In February Mala and I went to Bossa Nova and I got the fish and chips. They were good but I learned that it does not taste as good the next day. This place is really fun to be in. The staff seems like they enjoy working there.

Month And A Half Worth Of Food

I have a lot of food blogging to catch up on so I am cramming them all into this post. About a month ago JP and I went to Plan Check after seeing that they had this damned burger with cheese, bacon, and fried onions. I was all over that after we found out that they could turn their small burgers large. We also got their fries, drinks, and JP got the chicken sandwich. Everything was super good. Afterward we headed to this place called Cofax which turned out to be horrible. The look on JP's face when she saw the small selection was priceless. I got two donuts, a mango one that was so damned tart that I could only have one bite. I also got some pistachio deal and a regular ass cookie. We enjoyed our coffees but will never head to this place again. JP was already looking for another donut place while we waited for our order and we headed to California Donuts which was fucking awesome. Every single donut we got from them tasted amazing. No ICDC but really good.
