Inti One Saturday Vito's The Next

Last weekend I went to Inti on Melrose with my cousin Mala. She had never been before and I've been there maybe three times before. I really like this place. The shrimp fried rice tastes like fried rice tasted when I was little. The lomo saltado consists of “strips of beef sauteed with onions, tomatoes, and french fries served with steamed white rice, strips of beef sauteed with onions.” It is my favorite dish. 

We also got plantains which I almost forgot and Ceviche De Camarones that had “shrimp cooked in lemon juice, with onions and spices. served with boiled potatoes.” And of course I got the Inca cola because it tastes like magic. I look forward to going here again and maybe trying something new. Who am I kidding? I'm gonna get the lomo saltado again.

Last night Cam and I went to Vito's over on La Cienega after she was done adulting. She had mentioned wanting pizza earlier in the day so when she asked if I wanted something to eat I brought up this pizza and we went there. I have been a few times before and each I wonder why I go to other places to get a slice of pizza. It is in a kind of weird spot on La Cienega in a shopping center surrounded by other places. They have outside seating and indoor and play really good music. We grabbed a beer and two slices each and enjoyed ourselves. I love this place.

Late Food Posts

I have been slacking like crazy on this blog. I have been eating at different places and just not posting images of it here. I'm terrible. Late last year I went to On The Thirty in Sherman Oaks and Jennie and I got this brunch meal that included mimosas that were might powerful and fried chicken sandwiches with delicious fries. Out of all the chicken sandwiches I've had this is the second best after the ones that are no longer made at Tom Bergin's. Yeah, they no longer make them there. This one was made perfectly and did not fall apart when picked up. Another place I went to for the first time was this place called Delicious Pizza over on Sunset. Cam and I went there in December after a movie and the food was super good. We split the pizza in half with her side being arugula and mine being pepperoni and mushroom. The price was a bit high but it was very good. Nice vibe inside, but I just wish that they would play the songs the whole way through and not bounce around like an iPod on shuffle. In February Mala and I went to Bossa Nova and I got the fish and chips. They were good but I learned that it does not taste as good the next day. This place is really fun to be in. The staff seems like they enjoy working there.

Four Day Birthday Meals

This past weekend I celebrated my birthday three days in a row with my cousin JP, my super best friend Cam, and my cousin Mala. On Friday JP and I went to this Thai place on Sunset called Night+Market. Thankfully valet parking is just five bucks because finding parking on Sunset is a bitch. We got there a little after it opened at 5pm and got served pretty quickly. We went all out and ordered papaya salad, chicken larb, pad see ew, and a fried chicken sandwich. Every one of these dishes were good as well as the Thai iced tea.

CRACK BACON!!!

Yesterday Mala and me went to Grub for some food. She had never been before and this was my third time. I am always nervous about taking people to places for the first time because I worry that they wont like the food as much as me. That was not an issue this time. She loved everything we got and so did I. 

She got a Cobb Salad Ballad and crab cake. I did not try the salad but I did try the crab cake and it was good. We got a side of Crack Bacon and it was so good both of us could not talk. I also got the Crack Burger with cheese which damn near crippled me I was so full and it was so good. Mala had the idea to get some more of the bacon to go and add it to a donut which we did after seeing a movie and letting our food settle. We grabbed one from across the street and cut up the bacon and put it on top. It was so damned good! I love this place even though when we first got there and sat outside a leaf fell into her tea perfectly and a big ass bumble bee tried to assault her. We went inside after that.

Marix Margaritas & Food

Last week I swung by Marix with my cousin Mala. We were gonna go to Grub, then Continental Kitchen, and then I remembered Marix and how much I like it there. It was during a busy time on the weekend but the service was still pretty fast considering. We got a pitcher of margarita with no salt which made it faster to drink and boy did we drink! We had that and I got a burger because I'm not adventurous and I like their burgers. She got some stacked enchilada something or other that she liked. I don't think it blew her mind but she liked it. We stumbled our asses back to my place laughing like idiots and it was great.  

More Bludso's

Last week I went to Bludso's once again with a different cousin. This time it was Mala and she had not been before. We ended up getting the rib tips, beef brisket, potato salad, collard greens, cornbread, and macaroni. To drink I got the sweet tea which was really good. 

Mala thought the collard greens were too spicy but I don't eat those so I cant tell you. Otherwise we both liked the food and she plans on going back again. I like that every time I go to this place the food is good and the staff is nice. We had a distractingly hot waitress that liked my Bob Ross shirt. Next time I go I am going to take some dessert to go and some extra chicken. I cant just keep on getting beef items every damned time.

Lots Of Different Food

I have been to quite a few paces in the past few weeks and have totally been slacking when it comes to writing about them so like a lazy ass I'm gonna just post each one in this one blog. This isn't a Fat Tour because its over a period of weeks and not a day. Enjoy!

On Halloween before the parade me and my cousin Mala headed to Sweet Chile on Santa Monica Blvd. I had stopped going to this place for years choosing to head to Sammy's Thai Barbecue instead. Well, sad to say this but Sammy's is no longer edible. I'm serious. The food tastes so bad now. At Sweet Chile we got dumplings that looked like none I'd seen before but tasted great. Beef pad se ew as well as shrimp fried rice. Oh, and really good friend won tons. They have really large portions even for a regular size so expect to take leftovers. We had enough left for sharing each others food and two separate meals the following day. The staff here is really nice and the location is on the main street but it is nice and calm inside. Thai places love old R&B and pop.

Dinner And A Movie

A couple of days ago before seeing the new movie Chef with my cousin Mala, Camille warned me not to see it hungry. I'd made that mistake before with Julie & Julia and suffered watching that woman bathe everything in butter while I munched on snuck in sour candies. So before we headed into the Arclight we ate at their cafe where I've never had a bad meal. I got the French dip sandwich with fries and a Sprite. Oh, my god, it was so good. It has crispy bread but it wasn't the kind that hurts when you bite into it. I've had sandwiches where the bread was so hard that I had to take the roof of my mouth to grief counseling afterward. This had a couple of types of cheeses and was made with juicy roast beef. Our waiter was really cool and at the cafe they ask what time your movie starts so they can get your food to you faster. It's great.

Mala got a good looking steak with chimichurri and she switched her side to a Caesar salad. I could tell she liked it by the way her eyes rolled when she cut into it and took a bite. I'll have to try it the next time I go. I'm sure many people skip past this place thinking it is expensive, but let me tell you, it isn't. If you're at the Arclight you are paying $32 for two tickets. They are worth it! The meal was less than $40. It may sound like a lot to some but I don't eat out as often as I used to so spending that much to enjoy a really good meal is more than worth the price. Next time you head to this theater enjoy your meal and a good movie all in one place. They have awesome booths, good service, and if you're feeling saucy you can get one of their adult beverages which are might powerful!
