Back At BJ's

I thought I had written about the first time Cam and I went to BJ's but it turns out I did not. This time we were in Burbank and could not quite figure out what to eat. I did not want pizza. Cam did not want Dog Haus again. She checked if there was a BJ's nearby and there was one eight minutes from where we were so we headed there. It was raining a tiny bit but inside the place was packed. I told her the plan B. and C. ideas if shit was too wild here but she asked if we could sit at the bar area. Turns out that is a great idea because we sat in a nice booth area. We got a beer each and I ordered the BJ's Burger with bacon and cheese with fries. Cam mentioned she always gets pizza at this place and I was puzzled since she got a turkey dip when I was with her. She remembered this and how good it was so she ordered that.

We were both hungry as all get out so when the food came I inhaled mine. The burger was really good and I pointed out that they used that good bacon. The kind you don't buy because it is thick cut and only comes with like six in a pack. She enjoyed her sandwich and we both mentioned how great the fries were. They were seriously perfectly seasoned and cooked fries. Did not need to ad ketchup or anything to them. Just shoveled them into my mouth. I wish this place was closer to me because it is not crazy expensive and they have a huge menu that I have not even begun to put a dent in.

King's Road Cafe

Yesterday me and Miss E. went to this place called King’s Road Café. Its over on Beverly and King’s Road which isn’t very far from me. I walked it in the heat and sat my ass down. This is one of those places that is usually so packed that I never even try to eat there. Plus no one had ever told me about it and I don’t try new things unless I am invited to. So I order a turkey avocado burger that came with a side of sweet potato fries and a 7-Up. It was really good. Possibly the best turkey burger I ever had. It came with a big ass salad but I didn’t touch it. The service was good and the prices were about average for this type of place. You will get full so it’s a good idea to just share.

Home Cooked Meal

Every time I have been over Julia C.’s place her mom makes something that A. I have ever had. B. Tastes amazing. And C. has vegetables. Everyone knows that I’m not a huge fan of veggies but if you make them well I can and will eat them. Her mom made this delicious ground turkey dish with squash and peppers with rice and tortilla shells. It was super tasty and new to me. Also whenever we sit down and have dinner there is groovy conversations going on.

We talked about how many restaurants seem to have no pride in what they serve and many chefs do not taste what they are preparing and serving paying customers. We also discussed how certain cultures are now preparing food better than the places they got their food from (ex. Koreans making Mexican food better than Mexican restaurants). Good food and good conversations are two things I love more than anything. I am very much looking forward to Thanksgiving!

Fried Turkey!!!

So you think you’ve eaten a good turkey before? You lie! You have no had a real turkey until you have had it fried. That’s right. Fried, baby. For Thanksgiving my mother made one for the very first time and I was as happy as I was upset. Upset because it took me 30 years to taste this awesome ass thing.

It took about 45 minutes to fry this dirty birdie. It was by far the most juicy turkey I have ever had in my life. I doubt I will ever have better turkey. You dad’s turkey? No. Granny’s? You wish. This, my friends, is the apex. Makes me sad. Being 30 and knowing that I will never eat another turkey that taste better than this one.

If you haven’t had it you should really find a way to. I’m not talking about dipping a turkey in a trashcan full of oil. My mother used a machine for this so powerful it knocked out the electricity! It was worth it though. Next year I will have fried turkey. And the next year after that. Just you watch me. Turkey, people. Fried turkey.
