September Fat Tour

This past weekend I ended up going on a Fat Tour with JP. It was not official until dessert was introduced and it was in the form of leftover donuts from Dona's and Donut Friend. She mentioned three options on places to go an by the end of the day we ended up at two of them. First was IHOP. We were worried about it being packed because it was Sunday morning and you know how those kinda places get at that time. We got seats immediately which was cool. She ordered the breakfast sampler minus the eggs and I got their new burger. I got the plain ass one because if they mess that up I don't wanna try anything else. It was really good which surprised me. After that we went to my place and talked for hours like we do and later ate again.

We walked down to Marix which is one of those places that is consistently good. JP got the Cubano meal and since I already had a burger I tried this pork taco deal with rice, salsa, and guacamole. It was so damn good. We also ate a bunch of chips and salsa before the meal arrived because those things are dangerously delicious. I told JP how as much as I like this place I never think to go here. I also managed to make her cry laughing when me and my heavy chair was moved inches by a large woman moving her seat.

You Like Breakfast Foods?

The past few weekends I've been getting breakfast in the afternoon with folks. The first is from Vee's Cafe over on Adams with Cam. After checking some places out we were trying to think of where to go. We had visions of chicken sandwiches in our heads but the idea of a good breakfast won. We got the Hauser scramble which is eggs, black beans, cheese, and turkey bacon. I got mine with no beans because I don't like beans. There was also toast with some really good jam. We also got big ass espressos because we are adults and can do things like that.

The next weekend JP and I went to IHOP. I had not been here since last year I guess. We both got the breakfast sampler which is such an odd name for such a big meal. It has two pancakes, two eggs, hash browns, ham, bacon, and sausage. Later after recording a show where the audio didn't come out we headed to Carmella's for some green tea ice cream for me and she got a new pine nuts and...something. I can't remember and she is too busy partying to respond to my request for the flavor. I had fun two week in a row eating with a few of my favorite people.

Nachos, Ice Cream, and Shrimp

It was a day of bad service. KP and I went to Hollywood and Highland and stumbled into the premiere of Fast & Furious 7. Had no idea it was happening since we didn't go to Dave & Buster's because Van Halen was performing the two previous days. I know this sounds all made up but its not. After we dodged $30 parking we walked into a Ludacris concert. What is happening?! Anyhoot, we headed to D&B's eventually and waited a forever just to get drinks and order our food. This place wasn't busy by any stretch of the imagination. I got nachos that allegedly had beef. I saw none. But it had plenty of beans! KP got calamari but it was a whole lot of fried onions and pepperoncini which I had no idea was spelled that way. Okay-ish food. Bad service. Slow staff. Will only go back to play games which was awesome. That Kung Fu Panda game ain't no joke!

Food At The End Of 2012

In the past couple of weeks I have been spending time watching movies, hanging out with folks, and enjoying the holidays. Yeah, there’s been more but if you wanna read/hear all that nonsense check out my other blogs. I’ve eaten at a few places and tried some new things and they have been building so I’ve decided to just cram the into a blog about the last places I ate at in 2012.

First up is this chip exhibit I went to with Cam. She writes about beer and potato chips and someone mentioned this to her so we went. It was at this place called 8 Bit in Echo Park. Or Silverlake. I seriously mix the two up.

They had chips from all over the world so me and Cam decided to buy fifteen bags of them. Sounds like a lot but damn it we’re dedicated! By the time we got there, days after the exhibit started, so many crazy ass flavors were already gone.

Remember Sizzler?

Last week me and Cam…I really go out to eat with her a lot, don’t I? Anyhoot, we ended up going to Sizzler. I say “ended up” because I had shrimp on my mind for a couple of weeks and we decided to head to Penguin’s, that cool fish, shrimp, and chips place. So we drive over and they’re closed. They’re not open on Sundays?! We had no idea and just stared at each other. I was gonna get some shrimp, damn it. That was all I could think of. I wanted to jump out the car and scream to the heavens. Cam suggested IHOP but they don’t have the kinda shrimp I wanted. Next was either Denny’s or Sizzler. I settled on Sizzler.

We got there and got our tables and orders quickly. I got the all you can eat shrimp and fries while Cam got the salad bar. I had three refills of shrimp. Cam shared some of her chicken with me and I was satisfied. I didn’t eat the cheese bread because I don’t like it. This shocks the hell out of people but to me they taste like huge Cheez-Its and I don’t like those. We stayed for a while and had awesome conversations. Sizzler isn’t as cool as it used to be but still okay if you wanna chill.

Charlie's At The L.A Farmer's market

This morning I went to this place called Charlie’s at The Farmer’s Market next to The Grove. I had been here once before with Miss L. and they have really good and filling pancakes. Their bacon was thick and their prices are cheap. That’s Cam of course trying to inhale all my food. Except the bacon of course. The scrambled eggs were a little runny but that was overlookable. Wow. Overlookable is a real word. We both sat there chatting about Abraham Lincoln’s murder and enjoying the beautiful L.A weather. Oh, and the staff is really cute. Bunch of young girls wearing shorts and smile a lot. Head there and grab an awesome breakfast and don’t deal with the staff at IHOP.

IHOP Staff

Earlier this week I went to IHOP with my tattoo artist Koko. I love IHOP. I can sit there for hours on end eating and talking about life. I ordered the pancakes, eggs, bacon, hash browns, and a strawberry lemonade. It was very good and Koko enjoyed her fancy crepe thing with fruit on it. After a while I realized I hadn’t heard from our waiter in a while. No, it wasn’t busy. It was in the middle of the day with more staff than people. Eventually I had to go and get a refill from the manager. I’m sick of this nonsense with wait staff. Stop that shit! Feed and serve me! I know I may sound dickish, but come on. If I could get my own drinks I would. I barely wanted to leave a tip seeing as how our food took forever to arrive.
