Dog Haus

While out all over the place today Cam heard my stomach make sounds and asked if I was hungry. I was. All's I had was coffee and it was now early afternoon and the beast stirred inside me. We headed to this place called Dog Haus after she asked “You want a hotdog?” When a woman asks that question you don't say no. So we headed there.

She got a big ass corndog with tater tots and fancy dipping sauces along with I believe a Birch beer. I tried the tots and they made them perfectly. They weren't all soggy and sad like some folks make them.

I got what is called The Cowboy which had smoked bacon, white American cheese, crispy onions, and barbecue sauce. This thing comes on a thick ass slice of bread that was strong enough to contain all that madness. And it was good. This is one of those places that I'd go to all the time if I lived nearby.

Continental Kitchen Hot Dog

I went to the Continental Kitchen again the other day and decided to try one of their hotdogs. I don't eat them often and I was sure that whatever this place made it would be good. I was correct! This monster was very filling and came with their magic fries that taste perfect. The all beef hotdog came with lettuce and tomato as well as pickle.

The next time I go to this place I am gonna eat there because both times I picked my food up it was very comfy looking inside. The staff here is nice and when they give you a time to pick up your food it is just coming out of the kitchen and hot. I am waiting for the chance to take one of my friends here so they can see that it is as good as I have been saying.

Carney's On Sunset

There’s this hotdog place up on Sunset Blvd. called Carney’s. You know the place if you’ve driven down Sunset. It looks like a train car. They have a little rivalry with Pink’s on Melrose. And by a little rivalry I mean that Carney’s put up a big ass billboard advertising themselves right above Pink’s. What a dick move. I mean, the two places are so different there’s no reason to compete. Pink’s is popular. Carney’s is not. Its like comparing McDonald’s to The Counter.

I had not eaten from Carney’s in close to 10 years because the last experience I had with them was so bad. They are not far from me and when me and some co-workers from the old porn shop ordered a few things it took them close to two hours to bring it. Nothing like an ice cold hotdog! But thankfully I didn’t have that experience this time. I got a half pound burger with fries to start. Yes, I said start. Very good. Fries were not burned and the burger was cooked thoroughly. Looking at you, Umami Burger. The hotdogs are good but nothing to get your panties wet about. They do give you a baby bucket of sauerkraut for some reason.

Hot Dog...On A Stick

PhotobucketMe and Cam went to Hot Dog On A Stick. I hadn’t been here since the 90’s. Its one of those places I never ever think of going to. Especially since I try not to eat at malls. This one was at the Glendale Galleria and you all know how much I absolutely love the city of Glendale. I got a hotdog on a bun. Had no idea they had these. Or fries. Or veggie dogs for Cam. Seriously, it was a really good hotdog. Oh, and I got a big ass lemonade that was full of sugar! It made my stomach very happy thank you very much.

Wetzel's Pretzel's

You know what I like about this place? Actually its two things. 1. I have never eaten a pretzel from here (opting instead to get hotdogs wrapped with pretzel) and 2. Every time I am with someone and they do get a pretzel they don’t seem to enjoy it. Its always either too hard, too soft, or the flavor is off. Their hotdogs are great though.

Costco Hotdog

Photobucket

So I finally got to taste the myth. Not only did I taste it, I liked it. I liked it a lot. Me and Reinard went up to Costco after a couple of stops at the gas station and his place. We head over to Costco and it was early in the afternoon but totally packed. I was shocked. Didn’t these people have jobs to be at?

So as we’re heading to the door Reinard starts checking his wallet. He cant find his Costco card. We stop and I stare at him and squint in anger. Well, anger and disappointment. I tried to go to Costco years ago with Heidi and they were closing denying me this dream. Now this? Damn it. The funny thing is that I was gonna ask him if he had it before he even came and got me.

We get to the entrance and this old guy is standing there checking folks cards. Reinard tells him that he left his at home so the old dude tells us to go to the customer service desk and get a temporary one. He then adds:

“Better get in there or I’ll shoot ya!”

Or

“Better get in there or I’ll fuck ya!”

We aren’t sure which but either one is frightening. So we get in line for a moment when Reinard says he just wants to eat. So we get in line and ponder the idea of a pizza when I see how cheap the hotdogs were. So we grab two each and a soda. We sit outside and talk for well over an hour about everything. It was very cool. Julie called while we were hanging out and we ended up recording my Rosscast.

So the hotdog. It was big. Like Lexington Steele big (three points if you get that reference). I put onions on it which I never do. Relish, and mustard as well. Reinard managed to break the onion crank with his Hulk-like power. The damned thing was a perfect hotdog. I cant think of a way to improve it. If you have a friend with a Costco card force them to take you there. It’s worth it.
