Project Taco

Today me and my cousin JP went to this place called Project Taco over on Wilshire near Crescent Heights. This place is bigger than it looks from pictures I saw online. We had to park around the corner which makes sense when you consider its off of Wilshire. That street is a nightmare. So we get there are translating the street signs and head inside.

The line moves pretty face and there are some long tables with Jenga games on them. I suck at that game so I didn't even try and touch it. We got there during their lunch special which had two tacos, a side, and a drink. JP got the apple kale coleslaw but didn't like it that much while I got the chips with a salsa that was great. Forget what kind it even was bit it was really good. JP ended up getting the same which they replaced for free which was cool of them. I must say that the staff there was really cool as well. Now on to the tacos.

Pinches Tacos On Sunset

Earlier this week me and The Duchess went to this place called Pinches Tacos up on Sunset. I had to have passed this place thousands of times and never bothered to, uh, see it. Its so damned close I am mad that I didn’t know about it when me and The Engineer went to that weird ass Taxco place and had to suffer through the singing waiter with no menus. Now that I know this place exists I want to go a lot. Like, a lot. It was very good.

I was just talking to Cam a few days ago and she said that she was disappointed in the Mexican food in Los Angeles and I agreed with her. Knowing where we live and all the choices there aren’t that many that taste good. Most are…okay. Or just weird. Some of the best places are catering trucks and you have to know someone that knows which truck to go to. So I’m super happy that I now know that Pinches exists.

Escuela On Beverly

Tonight I went to this place called Escuela over on Beverly Blvd. here in Los Angeles. Miss L. and I were trying to figure out where to go. We thought about The Bowery on Sunset but decided tacos would be better. I have to had passed this place dozens of times and never noticed it because its on a side street. For an appetizer we got these chips with salsa and guacamole. This was actual guacamole and it was really good. So was the salsa but the guacamole was really good.

Miss L. got the pork belly and I got the shrimp tacos. After a long wait we got our food. We shared and her pork belly was amazing. My shrimp taco tasted good but hers kicked its ass. As we were eating I remembered that I ordered a soda and finally got it. The tacos were tiny but good. Its funny but whenever I’ve gone to a Mexican themed place the food is either really big or really small.

We were still hungry so we got a carne asada taco. They always come in orders of two. It was okay. Not nearly enough seasoning or taste and a bit too many onions. This place is good but kinda pricy. Parking could possibly be a bitch but we got lucky. Nice wait staff but really slow. It took way too long in between ordering food, bringing food, and being asked if we were doing fine with our meals. Speaking of the staff I just looked at Miss L. when a waiter came to our table and for no reason said “I’m not made for double shifts.” Uh, okay, dude. I don’t care. If you go to Escuela get the pork belly and a Mexican soda and be happy.

Dorito's Tacos At Midnight

Have you tried these? No? Then you are dead to me. These are Taco’s At Midnight flavored Dorito’s and they are awesome. Camille made a taco salad that she mixed with these and they were so damned good! Do they taste like tacos at midnight? I don’t know. I don’t eat tacos at midnight. I eat vagina or cereal. Mostly cereal. Lots of cereal. Very little vagina. But it has happened. So yeah. Taco’s At Midnight are delicious!
